5. My most valuable photo

This photo was taken this summer (2011) after our courses ended at university. It is very dear to me because I remember the feeling I had then. I was very happy, relieved and free. I had all my girl friends with me and no worry in the world. I also felt that one year had passed and I had become smarter, wiser and had accomplished something. I really like this photo because every time I look at it I remember how relaxed and good I felt when it was taken and how fun my university friends are.

The next photo is not one I have taken but I find it very symbolic. If you can say what you see and then translate it in Romanian you would get the full meaning.

4. A recent film that I have seen: Se7en

I have recently seen the movie Se7en. It is both a crime story with a tint of horror in it. A crazy anonymous (John Doe) serial criminal decides he will teach the world a lesson by murders that reflect the seven deadly sins. If you didn't know, they are: gluttony (eating too much), lust, greed, sloth (being lazy), wrath (angry), envy and pride. The interesting thing is that the murder tries to show how the victims die because of their own sins. For example, in order to reflect gluttony he kills an overweight man by forcing him to eat until his stomach explodes. Or he disfigures a beauty queen and glues a phone to one of her hands and a box of pills to the other therefore letting her choose if she wants to live while being ugly or die. (reflecting pride). Two detectives are on his tracks. Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt) is a beginner and acts foolish, while detective Will Somerset (Morgan Freeman) is experienced and tired of criminals, but still helps David solve the crimes. The finale is interesting as the two final victims are the detective (wrath) and the murderer for envy. I recommend you watch this movie as it is very interesting. If you are not convinced watch the trailer and then try the quiz:

3. Brand names

I chose to write about the Kent cigarettes brand. After doing a bit of research on the internet I found that the brand is the property of British American Tobacco Nassi group (the same that produce Pall Mall, Dunhill and Lucky Strike).

1.The name is not very connected with the product itself. The brand is named after Herbert Kent, a former executive at Lorillard Tabacco Company, so it is not very imaginative. It is an international brand, sold in many different countries. From what I know they are sold in Belgium, Romania, the USA, Poland, Moldavia at least but not in the UK or France.

2.There is no possible translation in Romanian other then Kent, so the name makes no difference to the consumers. They can find the product even if they go to different countries.

3.The name sounds serious and stylish so the smokers might be attracted by the name. It is also short and very distinct, easy to remember.

4.The new product I would like to introduce to the market is Uniques (which in French means unique). This name reflects that the product is unique and sounds very stylish and special. This would make people be curious and try them. I would also see them as a suitable brand for women who smoke.

2. What I did last summer...

My summer wasn't as you would expect it to be: your ordinary holiday at the seaside or at the mountains. Instead I decided to rest in the comfort of my own home. I enjoyed the sun and the warm weather, when I wasn't too busy working. I spent several afternoons having barbeques and water fights with my friends. When I found time I also went swimming in the outdoor pool of the Weekend complex in my hometown. In the evenings I mostly relaxed by having drinks with my ordinary crowd in some of my favourite places. All in all I had a great summer even though I didn't travel.
